Ashleigh and LJ were really great and I worked very hard to make this day as special as possible. The wedding was held in Rosenburg, somewhat outside of Houston which was the home town of the bride's father. The family was very adament about us having a hotel the night before the wedding and the night of so as make sure we were safe for the night. The day following the wedding the bride's cousin's remains were brought home to Rosenburg.
Since we were already in town we went to their reheasal dinner and then to their rehearsal and even were invited to go with the bridal party to Houston for a fun evening of partying which we declined because we were already exhuasted from traveling from Austin.
The wedding was held in a small Catholic church in a tiny town just outside of Rosenburg.
The bride's mother's family were from Lousiana and they were all dancing maniacs. I think I need to visit New Orleans some Mardi Gras and experience the whole thing to really get a good grip on the people and customs. What's with the umbrella? They all seemed to know what to do with it! Christina was eventually dragged on the dance floor by some family member or friend towards the end of the evening. The band played for half hour after the bride and groom exited to keep the family excited while they cleaned up the hall.

TWO RINGS BIND THEM: Ashleigh and LJ in Rosenburg!
Sadly, I was a replacement photographer on this wedding when Ashleigh's cousin, Michelle, another photographer in the Austin area was killed in a car accident returning from a wedding last year. I quit the WPJA after discussing some of our postings on their forums following Michelle's death with their arrogant leader.

TWO RINGS BIND THEM: Ashley and Lucas at Barton Creek Resort!
Sometimes it good to let the pictures speak for themselves. But most of the time I can't find a way to keep myself from typing something the people in the pictures so you'll have to wade through a few more words to get the pictures. I know that's what you're really here for. The wedding was at the church Ashley grew up in and was officiated by this great character of a pastor who sounded so much like Christopher Lloyd. I desperately wanted to hear him say, 'FLUX CAPACITOR,' and record it for the website, but I decided that it would be just weird to ask that.

After the Ceremony they drove to Barton Springs Country Club where amazing flowers and cakes and a table filled with Ashley's family wedding history showed off pictures, Bibles, gloves and other memorabilia awaited the guests. The view was simply amazing loooking out over HIll Country.

Ashley's dad borrowed this 70s Cadillac for them to exit in and they drove around downtown Austin with us in the back seat shooting a couple pictures before they left for their honeymoon in Canada.

TWO RINGS BIND THEM: Ben and Sara at the Barr Mansion!

Ben and Sara had a heck of a story. They met in kindergarton at a school the bride's mom taught at. These two knew each other longer than my wife and I knew each other. There was certainly a connection between these two that I don't see very often in a engaged couple. They chose the Barr Mansion to have their wedding at on a very mild June day. Of course it was humid. When is it not humid?

Right after the ceremony there was a tear of joy coming down Sara's cheek that I am so happy that I caught. It was a beautiful moment.

What's with the penguin? There wasn't any dancing happening at this wedding until the penguin entered through the back door and demanded a dance with the bride and then groom. I liked their shoes from this wedding. I felt like I need a pair of Cons what with even the bride wearing them.

TWO RINGS BIND THEM: Joy and Clyde at the Doubletree Hotel!
People must think of me as the party photographer because there are no weddings that I shoot where there isn't a fabulous party going on afterwards which I capture with my own personal style which gives off the impression of a drunken ninja, but trully brings back the memories which everyone feels as their are dancing, talking and drinking the occasional soft drink laden with rum. Joy and Clyde surprised the heck out of me because they were the most responsible people I think I had ever met. They and their entire family and attendant were at the rehearsal before me which I can honestly say has never happened in my many years of shooting weddings.

After the ceremony they drove off in the grooms shiny silver car. This is some sort of an import right?

They knew how to relax after their ceremony and had a great time with their friends and family!

TWO RINGS BIND THEM: Kim and James at Kindred Oaks!

These two were bundle of fun energy! The grooms mother saw me shooting pictures and told me that she thought the groom and I could be brothers. I knew we were starting out on the right foot shooting that day.
This was at Kindred Oaks up near Georgetown on a very hot June Sunday. This was the beginning of my busy summerof weddings from Dallas to Houston and a bunch of places I'd never heard of. This one hapened to be only a few miles from my home and the bride and groom were great.

Engage! Tracia and Chris!

I got a good feeling from these two as soon as I met them. I never figured they be up for such a crazy adventure on a muggy day in June. The pictures speak for themselves.

I think this one has become my favorite engagement image of all time. It looks like a movie poster to me.

They were dramatic and romantic and oozed intensity! I was amazed because here was another example of a couple who claimed they were unphotogenic.

Engage! Lawrence and Judy!

So many people hire me and the first thing they say to me is, 'I'm not photogenic.'

When Coral shot Christina and I last year I think we really proved that those who are unphotogenic really aren't that at all except in their minds. I think these two were so photogenic and had great clothes and a sense of style.

Why they would think themselves unphotogenic is beyond me. Maybe they just hadn't found the right photographer.....

TWO RINGS BIND THEM: Liz and Andrew at Chateau on the Creek!
I don't think they slept the night before but it didn't seem to bother them all that much. The ceremony was at the LDS Temple in San Antonio in the morning and their reception was in the evening in Round Rock at Chateau on the Creek, so it was a long day. The rain stopped for us that day.

I've been working on some new effects lately that I call Glipping. Kind of one of those odd words that pops into my head while I'm sitting at the dinner table that doesn't really mean anything but gets a meaning shortly thereafter and is put into my common vocabulary quickly drawing odd looks from every one. I call the one that's on most of these two The Matrix because of the odd green cast to everything.

I just think of those goofy super hero cartoons from Hanna Barbera in the 70s when I see these ring pictures. WONDER TWIN POWERS ACTIVATE! And then they'd turn into a mop and a bucket of water or something like that.
